Mr Macintosh Update September 09

Hello There Macintosh User!

If you are getting this email you have sometime been a client of mine —
Thank you for your past custom!

No update for August as I was in Bali.

1. Snow Leopard:
Installed and underwhelmed! No, actually it is so cheap that the slight speed and hard drive space gains mean it's well worth it. Several nice features as well. If you have an Intel chip Mac go for it.

2. Hey DJ! :
In the new iTunes 9 there is a DJ playlist that’s is very useful for parties and general having fun with your mates.

3. aMSN:
A fuller featured application than the regular MSN Messenger whose registration it uses. Supports video for one thing...for people, or more likely their kids, who are on MSM Messenger but want video as well.

4. Aardvark! :
At Aardvark they have a really useful way of finding stuff out: ask everyone else. Instead of Googling away for hours trying to find information this site asks people in your social network (via your Facebook or any other social networking sites) and if they don’t know it asks their networks, and so on.
Explained as often is by David “Mr. Prolific” Pogue.

Called YouTube for documents, Scribd lets anyone publish their written work online. You can read books, buy books and read all sorts of stuff and spend a lifetime reading here. Like a private library.

6. Scribbles :
Very intuitive and simple drawing and tracing tool. It lets you draw without the limitations of a certain size canvas. Free to try forever and US$19.95 to register and publish online.

10. Time Tracking Software :
Two offerings, one free and one US$47 after a 21 day trial. Time Tracker is free and might be sufficient for you to keep track of several projects at once so you can invoice for them properly.
OfficeTime has more features like automatic linking to iCal plus more and its not that expensive...
